Silver instead of gold

Gold warms a dark base and makes it read traditional. Silver cools it and makes it read modern. On this deep purple the silver stays sharp rather than turning brassy, and it holds contrast in low light where gold would go muddy. If most of your wardrobe is gold-embroidered, this is the one that will not look like the others.

The repeat, and then the border

Silver threadwork and sequins form an all-over repeat motif across the shirt. From a few feet away it reads as a woven jacquard rather than embroidery — the pattern is regular enough to look like part of the cloth. Then it opens into a wide paisley border at the hem, with scalloped work finishing the dupatta edges and the trouser hem.
